Add more material - Aerosols
You could be collecting aerosols at the kerbside
Empty aerosols can be collected for recycling simply by including them with metal food and drink cans. It's a simple but cost-effective way to expand your recycling service and meet householders' desire to recycle more from home.
No special steps are needed to start collecting, but you should work closely with your waste management contractor to ensure health and safety and contamination risks are minimised.
Our programme partner BAMA has produced guidance for handling post-consumer aerosols - download BAMA's Best Practice Guidelines (PDF) and Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (PDF)
Clear and regular communication with your householders is also essential to ensure only empty aerosols are only put out for recycling.
We can help
The major manufacturers of aluminium foil containers and aerosols, Unilever and the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) have developed this programme to help local authorities to recycle more of the metals in the domestic waste stream.
Between us we have the knowledge, experience and expertise to give you the best advice on including aluminium foil containers and aerosols in your kerbside collections.
