June 2010
Watch video
Leeds City Council added aerosols to its green bin kerbside scheme in June 2010. The aerosols are being collected alongside metal food and drink cans, and are the first new material to be added to the scheme.
The Council used advertising and PR materials from the communications resource to launch and reinforce the campaign to householders. This included on collection vehicles and a bus shelter advertising campaign.
Poster templates were used to produce Agripa panels for the Council's 10 collection vehicles. These will feature on vehicles for at least 12 months.
Adshel bus shelter advertisements were placed at 24 sites across the city for 4 weeks to coincide with the distribution of recycling calendars to each of Leeds' 300,000 households.
A press launch was held at the Unilever factory in Leeds, which is Europe's largest aerosol manufacturing facility, and the campaign received good coverage in local press and in the recycling media. You can read the press release on the Leeds City Council website
